Adding to the Kingdom
August 2011
In June and July we were blessed to have Tavajay, who is a full time student at Cornell University, serve as our campus intern at Syracuse University. In August, we had Chanelle, recent SU graduate, serve as a campus intern there as well. Tavajay and Chanelle were joined by our full time SU student Tyler, throughout the summer. These three young disciples are gold! Between the three of them many lives were touched and there are still students studying the Bible with us on campus at SU and at Cornell.

We have seen God renewing people’s lives over the last few months. In June, we saw Jesse V., a soldier now stationed at Fort Drum, restored to Jesus. Jesse came here to upstate New York with one main goal--to return to God and to find a church where he could serve. We are so thankful he found us and that we got to be part of his restoration. Jesse is married, with two sons, and is currently on a three month deployment to Afghanistan. We are praying for him every time we are together as a church. May God shine through him in these dark times and bring him home safely.

In July, we saw Tamica baptized into the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ! The Tussings met Tamica while out shopping and invited her to services. When she came she loved it and we all felt like she was meant to be with us. She studied the Bible and grew in so many relationships in the church, so when she was baptized it was perhaps the most joyful baptism I was ever a part of. Welcome home Tamica!

In August, a young man named Shaquile, an incoming freshman at Syracuse University came to visit us. Before coming up to begin his first semester, he was baptized into Christ in the NYCCOC! He now joins other new members, Will, and Loren, on the SU campus. May God be glorified by all of them this semester and beyond!
